If it’s your first time here, you won’t feel the difference because “ The Official Guide to Stockholm design week” is the welcoming program created to make you familiar with the calendar of the events and all other useful locations in Stockholm like restaurants , hotels, bars, art galleries and so on.
As a preamble of that tour, just take a short look at what happened last year.
In this short presentation which has the role to help you understand and make an idea about the Stockholm Design week, I have chosen a few artists who offered the public some interesting and original ideas. When it comes to art, I think the expression” think outside the box” is the main ingredient which transforms an idea into a masterpiece.
This Italian designer created a sofa for „Foggia” and his inspiration came from “Campo” a well-known type of Italian pizza.
“Sit up or lie down, together or just resting alone,” it said. “Campo is an open invitation to explore its many possible uses.”
This is one of the Scandinavian designers who impressed the crowd in 2016 with his „Storm tables”.
This Swedish designer’s table comes with a foldaway tray which flips up when not in use, so its curves can be used for carrying or as a hook for hanging on the wall.
„I worked out that if the tabletop could be folded down, it would be possible to hang the table on a wall if you didn’t need to have it out all the time,” said Lervik.
Lervik also showed visitors a new perspective of wrist watch design. His Bikupa watch features a perforated metal face. The watch manufacturer decided to put this design to the test and see what customers will react.
This is my favorite artist and I would really like to know your opinion about him and about his work.
His idea of creating furniture items that connect one with another is brilliant. Having a set of chairs connected to a table and a hanger in the same time is something that will make your house stand out of the crowd.
“The basic idea was to create a Swedish smörgåsbord,” said Persson, referring to the open-sandwich meal traditionally eaten in the country.
We’ll talk more about this event when we meet there.
