Wall sawing is the type of sawing in which the concrete walls openings are cut using a saw, road saw, cut-off saw, slab saw, wire saw or quick cutting saw, etc. These are a powerful tool used for cutting walls made of reinforced concrete R.C.C, masonry, brick, and other solid materials. There are various types of the wall cutting saw models available in the market.
Wall Sawing using different types of Saws
Various types of saws deployed for wall sawing are described below. The different saws are used based on wall condition as well as location. For example, the design of wall sawing like a squire, angular or circular, space restriction, difficulty in getting to insert saw can be due to the wall locations, but the purpose is all the same that is wall sawing.
General purpose Wall Saws
These are universally applied to vertical wall surfaces whether a new doorway, window or HVAC openings are required to be made in any existing building. Wall sawing employs a diamond blade on a track-mounted facility that can be used for vertical as well as horizontal cuts. Wall sawing allows for precise cuts.
Wall sawing can produce up to 30″ deep cut. Cutting can also be performed from both sides of the wall surface, resulting from a total depth of up to 60″. If your opening requires an angular cut through the concrete, this can be performed.
Typical Applications of Wall Sawing are:
- Straight finished openings in walls, ceilings, and floors
- Accurately sized openings
- Bevel cut opening
- Flush cut against the surface and many more
A wire saw is like wall sawing, but the design is different. Wire sawing can produce the continuous or oscillating cut on the wall by using metal wire in congested areas where other machines cannot work conveniently. This saw utilizes a multi-string type wire cable fitted with industrial diamonds as a blade. By means of adjustable pulley system, wire sawing can produce wall sawing with minimum damage surrounding the wall.
Chain ring saw:
This is being commonly employed wall sawing when general type sawing is the impediment and cannot be performed due to space constraint or entry problem. They can be gas, electric, or hydraulic operated. Hand sawing produce portable, quick cut with minimal over-cuts on the wall.
Like the wall saws and flat saws, the chainsaw can cut flush on the wall if required.
Typical Applications for Concrete Chain Sawing are:
- Electrical; plumbing, openings on the wall
- Ventilation and air conditioning openings on the wall
- Eliminating overcuts and corner cutting on the wall
- Concrete Beam and Pipe cutting on the wall
Chain and hand sawing are generally deployed for wall sawing where general wall sawing cannot be performed. Handheld units are provided with diamond blades and chains. Hand sawing provides portable, quick cutting on the wall with minimal over-cuts.
Typical Applications Include:
- Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC openings on the wall.
- Ventilation and air conditioning openings on the wall.
- Small, tightly accessed areas where cutting is needed. On the wall
For hand sawing, handheld power saws consist of diamond blades are used to make cuts on walls. Hand sawing provides portability, speed and accessibility at construction and demolition sites.
Blade selection for wall sawing:
Selecting a blade for the concrete wall cutting application is not an easy task. Saw has to satisfy the necessary condition to perform a cutting task well. The saw blades used for concrete wall cutting are diamond saw blades.
In the end, it can be concluded that wall sawing job needs more perfection than the concrete cutting job. Therefore, wall sawing job should be assigned to a highly trained team of equipment operators with the world-class workmanship.
