Hello from Denmark, the happiest country in the world. How do I know it’s the happiest country in the world?! Even now, when I am writing this article about it, a happy feeling is flooding my body and my mind. That’s how happy this country is.
But let’s go back in time a little bit and start with the beginning.
It all started a few months ago when I found on the internet an article called “ The happiest nations in the world”. Having an urge for being happy all my life, I decided right away to read the article. I thought this could be the answer and the key to happiness. How can a country be the happiest country? How are they doing this? Going there and see how things are working may be a good idea to get inspired and live happily. Should I move there to be happy?
A lot of questions popped in my mind. “So let’s take a trip there,” I said talking to myself.
And here I am now, writing this article from the happiest country in the world. And because I am so happy I just remembered a joke which I have to share it with you.
“How do you sink a Danish submarine? -You knock and they open the door to answer.
How do you sink it a second time? You knock on it again and they open a window and say – we’re not falling for that one twice. „
You know how a nation can have the highest happiness score? They have a great sense of humor. And this is not a joke.
To make this article be legit, I will have to talk a little bit about the „ World happiness report” which is a measure of happiness published by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. This is a landmark survey of the state of global happiness. They started in 2012 when the first survey was made, they continued in 2013 and took a break in 2014 just to come stronger in 2015 and 2016.
The survey in 2016 was published on March 20 in Rome and the results showed that Denmark is the happiest country in the world. The day wasn’t random, March 20 is the UN International day of happiness. If you are interested in more details about how this measurement are made just go to the official website and find out everything about it (http://worldhappiness.report/)
Now let’s get back to Denmark because I am still here and there are few things you need to be informed about. I will skip the ordinary subjects such as: „how to get in Denmark”; „how much this and that costs” because these are simple things you can easily Do It Yourself and I am too happy to waste my time with these common things which the internet is full of. So let’s get straight to the point !
Places to visit :
West Jutland. This the place of happy fishermen who will love to stay with you to drink a beer and share their fictional or real stories about their life and fishing experience. The Westcoast is the home of some amazing natural sights. Nature was very kind with this part of Denmark because it has almost everything: sea, plantations, windswept beaches, inlets, bays, and straits. I spent two days here walking around and visiting this natural part and laughing out loud with hilarious fishermen who were glad to increase my happiness level.
There are more other places to visit which I am going to present them briefly because I can’t wait to get to „the mother and father of happy places”. If you’re curious just wait, we are getting there but there are few more things you need to know.
East Jutland. Here you can find one of the most active cities in Denmark called Aarhus. Colored and dynamic, Aarhus is the home of some fun activities. You can visit the „Old town open air Museum”. Here you will learn a lot of history just by taking a walk and looking at the art developing in front of you.
There are also other museums and one of them is also called the icon of Aarhus. AroS Art Museum’s Rainbow. I will just let you explore the photos because I am speechless.
I said before, it’s a very active city and that’s because in the forest of Marselisborg you will find an amusement park called Tivoli Friheden which is filled with numerous fun „toys” which will offer you some extreme experiences. If you like extreme sports you can train here.
As you can see, you can have a modern trip and also a wild-natural trip visiting Denmark, but what made me go on this trip was the city of Aalborg which is declared to be the happiest city in the world. 97 % of the people who live here are very satisfied with the life they have. I read a lot of articles about this city and about the life here and they were stating one thing: people are very satisfied with their lives- they are the happiest people in the world.
I am happy to present you Aalborg.
There a little more than 207.000 people in Aalborg and The European Commission made a survey with all the cities in Europe asking how safe they feel, how happy they are with their jobs, how happy they are about their incomes and so on.
73 % of people from Aalborg stated that they are VERY SATISFIED with their lives and 24 % are FAIRLY SATISFIED.
It’s an amazing percent. But how they do it? The answer is simple! They just live! I am sure you felt the need for an elaborate answer, but when you waste your time with minor details you get lost and you forget that you are alive.
“I ended up staying here because you can really have a lot of influence. It’s easy to get involved and there is a very high level of acceptance and inclusion,”
There’s a statement from a Romanian student who came to Aalborg to study. After spending 4 years here studying, he decided to move here forever. And let me tell you something, he’s extremely happy.
Visiting Aalborg the first thing you will get in touch with it is the special mood of people living here. They call Aalborg, Denmark’s laid – back city because everyone has a positive mood and they are all about living their lives to its full potential. The city is full of museums and there is always some reason to party. Having a job here is not a pain in the…. because the program is very relaxed and everybody is doing their jobs correctly and in a relaxed mood.
Everyone likes museums because here you can see art and learn some things about history or see different styles and get to know different artists. One of the most interesting museums in Aalborg is Kunsten – The Museum of Modern Art. Here you will have the chance to get in touch with modern artists and get inside their minds. I also like old art, but having the chance to see in future make a visit to a museum more interesting. If you are tired of history you should visit this museum because you will live in the present and you will see what the future is preparing.
Aalborg is an open mind city where you can live free and enjoy the beauty of nature and also get in touch with the modern designs of buildings. As you walk on the streets of Aalborg you will be amazed by the urban art. International and local artists have put their imaginations to work and they colored the city’s buildings with their special designs.
„When you use the hash tag #streetartaalborg on Instagram your picture will appear on this site. There, you can also see which murals other Instagrammers have found around the city.”
If you want to start a new and happy life you can move here to Aalborg, it’s even easier for young people who want to start their studies here. Aalborg University is a well-known university which will prepare you to live a happy successful life.
Among a lot of events which take place almost every day in Aalborg, you will have the chance to be a part of the happiest party in the world. This super party is called „Gaden” and it’s the biggest street party in Scandinavia.
„In Gaden, you will find restaurants during the day and during the summer period, they offer outdoor serving in order for the guests to fully enjoy the spirit of the place. During the afternoon, some of the bars open and the nightlife begin when the clubs open and create an amazing feeling. In Jomfru Ane Gade you will find great places to eat, fancy clubs and cozy bars.”
But this is not all that Aalborg has to offer. There are a lot of activities you can do here. It has it all and this is a fact. You can take a walk in the parks of Aalborg or you can spend your time in the art galleries here.
If you are not convinced this is the happiest city in the world and you have second thoughts about moving here, just relax and subscribe because I will come with a brand new article dedicated only to Aalborg.
We will party visiting the Live Music events that happen all the time in Aalborg and we will taste the happy nightlife in this city. And this is not everything, just keep in touch because we are also going here
I am so happy I am sharing this with you and I am even happier preparing to present a 100 % Aalborg lifestyle. You are going to move here, believe me. I am already making arrangements to move here and you’ll be happy to read the next Aalborg article.
